Parents and Service Providers

Participation in Research Studies

We would like to make you aware of two research projects at Northeastern University that may be of interest to you. Information about the Janssen Autism Knowledge Engine (JAKE) and the Bio-Behavioral Capture System (BBCS) are described below.

JAKE: Conducted at Northeastern University, 360 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02115

1: Eligible children 6-9 years old and 13-17 years old.

2: Confirmed diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

3: Children-youth can continue to receive educational, behavioral, pharmacological interventions.

4: Children-youth live at home with parents or primary caregiver.

5: Parents or primary caregiver must have smartphone capable of running JAKE application.

6: Duration of study at Phase 1 is 3 weeks (3 lab visits) and at Phase 2 is 6 weeks (4 lab visits).

7: Families will be compensated $51 for each lab visit; children will receive $10 Amazon gift card for each lab visit; families retain FitBit Flex Activity + Sleep wristband ($100 value) at conclusion of study.

BBCS: Conducted exclusively in children’s homes

1: Eligible children up to 18 years old.

2: Confirmed diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

3: Children-youth can continue to receive educational, behavioral, pharmacological interventions.

4: Children-youth live at home with parents or primary caregiver.

5: Duration of study is 1 month.

6: Parents will control and schedule unobtrusive in-home video monitoring up to 5 hours per day.

7: Families will be compensated $1,000 at conclusion of the study.
